“I am always looking for the silly...”Artist Statement
I’m fascinated by the universal language of humor, particularly in art. A line drawn in a humorous fashion can amuse, bring on a smile, or even inspire laughter. I look to tickle the place where we find things funny through collage, cartoons, and painting. There is always an element of silly or whimsicality to my work. |
I find pleasure in paper... and I have a hard time throwing it away. I have a habit of seeing possibilities in magazine illustrations, patterns, and fonts snipped from any form of printed matter. I have plastic bins and even a hardback suitcase full of interesting snippets of paper.
I find inspiration in the color blue, spirals, Paris, coffee, coffeehouses, jazz, Picasso, cats, cartoons, Vespas, portraits, Abstract Expressionism, typography, Modern Art, Peanuts comics, French comic books, ...among other things.
The best time to laugh, is anytime you can.
